Lindsay O'Neil Trauma & Psychotherapy Services provides licensed therapy, helping individuals and families navigate life's challenges. We specialize in a wide range of areas, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.
TRAUMA THERAPY: The Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) offers elements of a variety of evidence-based counselling services, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, EMDR, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Our model also incorporates mindfulness, somatic work, grounding activities, drawing, and meditation. The goal of trauma therapy is to integrate the thinking brain with the emotional brain in order to manage emotions in a healthier way. To move beyond our traumas by creating a new neural template for what happened; decreasing the intense emotions and somatic experiences that trauma has caused in our lives.
CHILD AND YOUTH THERAPY (AGES 7-17)
Children and youth therapy is designed to help young people—typically from early childhood through adolescence—cope with emotional, behavioural, social, or developmental challenges. The goal is to support healthy emotional and psychological development and to equip young people with tools to manage life’s difficulties.
COUPLES AND FAMILY THERAPY: Couples and family therapy strategies aim to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships. Common approaches include the Gottman Method, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which utilize techniques like reflective listening, identifying negative patterns, and reframing communication. Family therapy often focuses on improving family structure, dynamics, and communication, with methods like structural and strategic therapy.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR therapy is a structured technique that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. It helps people move through the trauma by accessing parts of the brain that might not normally be active during a traumatic event. It helps the brain learn that the trauma is over.
The goal is to desensitize the memory, reducing its emotional intensity, and help the brain reprocess the experience in a way that it is no longer distressing.
The Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM)® was created by Lori Gill, Founder and Clinical Director Attachment and Trauma Treatment Centre for Healing (ATTCH).
The ITATM protocol works with all forms of trauma and extreme states of stress. It is not uncommon for us to see clients with various and often complex traumas which can include: sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, domestic violence including narcissistic abuse, or exposure to domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, traumatic loss, grief, attachment trauma, and abortion.
Research completed by Lori Gill and associates indicate “clinically and statistically significant reductions observed in suicide ideation, PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety, somatic preoccupation, anger, dissociation, sexual concerns, tension reduction behaviours etc.”
